Little Mermaid Beach Shack, Venice California

When I first moved into my studio apartment at the beach, it was a big reduction size in space from my Larchmont Village apartment.  I knew I could do it, because I loved the big kitchen, mirrors and fireplace.  I also realized how much space does one person need?  So I only packed my bed and that was it.  I was starting over and I would invest in new furniture.  Compact furniture that I could also use for storage.  In the beginning it took me three months to find the perfect couch that would convert into a bed for family or friends who wanted to visit.  I got a great deal on a modern futon and I am still using it nine years later.  I am looking to upgrade it with a gray linen futon when the time is right.

During this quarantine period, I knew I had to update some of the decor as I was home all of the time in the small space.  It was driving me crazy to look at things I knew had to be updated.  So I began getting pieces here and there all online at Amazon and delivered as a Prime Customer.  The first thing I needed was a new barstool.  My other one was ruined by wear and tear and it frayed, so I had to replace it.  Since I was working from home I needed an official workspace again, so I could go to my office.  You need that in a small studio.  So, I ordered one reluctantly as I have no idea what this would really look like.  Turned out to be a great purchase, easy to assemble and modern.  Now, I can look out my Venice Beach window, and see the surfers walk by as I work.

Next, I decided to upgrade the bedroom.  I needed it,  it was overdue.  I decided on a light blue comforter set.  I like blue as it's a cool, calming, ocean color vibe.  This was a wonderful quilted set for a great price. I loved it, but then I started to notice I needed more pillows to accent the bed and make it look perfect.  As I am a Gratitude Life Coach, I thought I would add a element of gratitude before I close my eyes at night and remind myself how blessed I am.  I found this adorable pillow.

I nicknamed my studio apartment the Little Mermaid Beach Shack as I love to swim and I live four blocks to the beach.  So a fun, cute name and I have a cute sign on the front door that says Mermaids Welcome, Shells optional.

I wanted to share some of my upgrades with you and how I am growing my own food right here inside my studio apartment.  During the quarantine, it made me realize how I needed to order my Tower Garden Home from my company after partnering with them two and a half years ago.  It was a necessity to me, not a luxury item.  I think we should all have our own food supply of fresh produce.  Some grocery stores ran out of fresh produce and I really didn't need to go to the grocery store once I stocked up on frozen and canned goods, but I kept running out of fresh items.  So, I ordered it, and I am so glad I did.
